Sabor Design System

Sabor (pronounced sah-BOHR) is a Spanish word meaning "flavour." Inspired by the vibrant colours, flavours, and culture of Mexico, Sabor Design System combines authenticity with intuitive functionality. From visually captivating interfaces to seamless navigation, every aspect is meticulously designed to enhance user engagement and satisfaction.

Overview

This project was originally developed in May 2023 as part of the Google UX Design Professional Certificate program to complement a Mexican restaurant mobile app. It was revised in April 2025 to improve accessibility and overall user experience.

Research

To ground the design system in authentic cultural context, we began by exploring Mexican culture and traditions. This included creating a mood board to capture visual and thematic inspiration, as well as competitive research examining Mexican restaurant brands.

Impact

  • Cohesive visual language: Establishes a unified look and feel that reflects the warmth and vibrancy of Mexican culture.
  • Faster, more efficient development: Reduces design and development time with reusable components and standardized patterns.
  • Improved accessibility: Ensures inclusive, user-friendly experiences by following accessibility best practices.
  • Stronger brand identity: Creates a distinct and memorable presence across all digital touchpoints.
  • Scalability and flexibility: Supports future growth by allowing for easy adaptation and expansion.
