The challenge
The goal was to design a mobile app that made ordering Mexican takeout feel effortless, welcoming, and full of character. The experience needed to reflect the warmth and vibrancy of Mexican culture while staying streamlined, intuitive, and practical for everyday use. Balancing bold visual expression with usability was key.
Design process
To ensure the app was grounded in real user needs, I began by creating two distinct user personas to guide design decisions throughout the project. These personas helped me stay focused on the goals, frustrations, and habits of potential customers.
From there, I sketched low-fidelity wireframes to explore layout ideas and user flows. These wireframes served as a foundation for high-fidelity designs, where I applied the Sabor design system to bring warmth, clarity, and consistency to every screen.

Impact & takeaways
As a fictional project, Mi Casa wasn't launched to real users, so there were no formal metrics to evaluate its success. However, if this had been a live product, key performance indicators like conversion rate, time to complete an order, and customer satisfaction scores would have been valuable in assessing usability and business impact.
This project reinforced the importance of designing with cultural context in mind—balancing expressive visuals with functional clarity. It also highlighted how a thoughtfully crafted design system like Sabor can speed up development while ensuring consistency across screens.
